Both pieces were sold during a live and silent auction on September 3, 2023 during Chik-Wauk’s Annual Old Fashioned Pie & Ice Cream Social with all proceeds going toward the daily operational costs of the Museum and Nature Center.

Both pieces were based on photos taken during an intense aurora storm in April 2023 near the end of the Gunflint Trail in Northeastern Minnesota. The captured shapes resemble birds, inspiring the titles I chose. I added clear and iridescent seed beads to represent some of the more visible stars in the photos.
