Being present in the moment is how you make memories.
Capturing that moment helps to preserve the memory.
I desire each needle felting landscape piece I create to bring the recipient or viewer into a reflective moment or back to a precious memory.
My style of recreating photo memories with needle felting seeks a softer yet more complex visual. I use fine layers of color and various natural and synthetic fibers and textures to draw you back to the raw aesthetics and sensations of the experience and how it felt to be there. I love spending time in nature and draw much of my inspiration from photos I've captured in and around the wilderness of Northeastern Minnesota, where I live with my husband and Labrador Retrievers.
I also own and run Tremolofy Advisory, an independent firm aimed at helping software companies with product operations and customer value enablement.
Felting with wool is one of the oldest textiles and forms of textile art, dating back to the Neolithic Stone Age period. Natural fibers such as wool, alpaca, and human hair are covered with scales that point from the root to the tip of the fiber. The structure, dimension and thickness of the scales affects how the fiber feels, looks and behaves. The scales on wool fibers are naturally long (making wool feel scratchy next to your skin) and fuse together readily when agitated. Needle felting involves using specialized barbed needles that push fibers together, causing their scales to tangle and interlock into a matted material known as felt. Needle felting landscape pictures is essentially painting with layers of colored fiber, creating unique visual textures and depth.
