A summer sunset on Saganaga Lake off the Gunflint Trail in Northeastern Minnesota inspired this piece. It was hard to select from the dozens of photos I took that evening, but I loved how the sun was peaking out behind the island while still casting its glow across the water. The only motion on the water that evening was from the wake of our fishing boat.

Capturing sunsets while fishing on the water (or the ice!) provides plenty of landscape needle felting inspiration.
