This commission commemorated a trip to Tanzania and a sunset scene of a Baobab tree. Known as the “Tree of Life,” Baobab trees are iconic to Africa. They can be enormous and live up to 5,000 years! There is so much history, myth, sustenance, and culture associated with these trees—too much to do them justice in this post.

While I’ve been to Africa, even a country with Baobab trees, I don’t recall seeing one myself. My client captured such a beautiful photo, and it was an honor to put it to fiber.

The felting was a fun challenge because of the many layers of sky, clouds, sunset, hills, brush, the tree itself, and the many colors and shades.
