This piece was created to benefit the Gunflint Trail Volunteer Fire Department. For perspective, I added a shadowed Northwoods treeline, which is seen in many of my pieces.

Blending the subtle color transitions in the northern lights with fine merino wool fibers is one of my favorite artistic challenges. I use countless tints, tones, and shades, many of which will never be reproduced.

I am working toward a more systematic and analytical process for my color blending to create a personal inventory supported by information on reproducing each.
