This 2-piece limited collection was based on the view from Gunflint Lake of our dear friend’s family cabin. She wanted the same view for 2 separate pieces – one to keep and one to gift to a dear friend who has enjoyed many vacations visiting her.

She wanted the towering white pine to be the focal point and to have a glimpse of her adored red cabin.

Her property is filled with mature trees of a variety of hardwoods and conifers and the needle felting required several layers to represent the depth of trees. We also adjusted the hardwood leaf color to represent the summer months when she spends the most time at her cabin.

This was my first time creating a piece in duplicate. I found it easiest to work on the pieces together, focusing on specific elements as I went. This kept the color palette consistent and ensured I wasn’t veering too far spatially or dimensionally.
